Natural Resource Projects

The Oneida County 4-H Program offers several programs, projects and activities that encourage exploration of New York State's natural resources. Come and experience the Nature Trails at the Farm and Home Center in Oriskany, viewing various tree species and wildflowers, Hear birds sing and maybe catch a glimpse of turkey, deer, fox or other wildlife. While you are at the Farm & Home Center feel free to tour the extensive Parker F. Scripture Botanical Gardens, during the summer months enjoy the Butterfly House and don’t forget the Kurt Wyman Indoor Bee Hive.

Conservation Education Days

The Oneida County 4-H Program in conjunction with several NYS organizations annually sponsors Conservation Education Days at beautiful Delta Lake State Park in Rome. The program is a free event for Oneida County 6th grade students. The event is designed to provide students the opportunity to:

  • Gain exposure to a variety of career opportunities
  • Gain exposure to various outdoor activities available in NY State
  • Gain a better understanding of the ecological balance among humans, wildlife, forest, soil and waters of New York State
