Community Action

A vibrant community routinely assesses its needs and actively works to develop a plan to address those needs. In examining what is needed to attract and retain financially healthy businesses, a stable and competent workforce and a strong community, a concerted effort must be made to improve the quality of life for children and families.  The Child Care Council promotes action within the community in several ways:

• Increasing public awareness about child care issues through press releases, letters to the editor, newsletters, internet, listserv, public interviews and written materials.
• Sharing data related to child care with our community planners, elected officials and the business community to promote change and investment in programs and services for youth and family.
• Speaking at local businesses, schools, events to increase awareness about the need for quality child care, how to identify quality programming and issues related to child care, child safety and family needs.
• Advocating for children and families through grass roots efforts, as well as efforts at the state and national level.
