Consider volunteering with our Therapy Dog program!

Owners and Therapy dogs volunteer their time and love.

Dogs and owners team up to deliver love and compassion.

Therapy Dogs

Cornell Companions of Oneida County train special dogs and their owners for volunteer opportunities to bring joy and smiles to people of all ages as they make visits in their community. 

A Therapy Dog: 

  • Is at least one year old & healthy
  • Enjoys interacting  with a variety of people and other dogs
  • Is well mannered and knows basic obedience commands 

No previous training is required for dog or owner. (Unfortunately, not all dogs will qualify)

(Therapy Dogs are not Service Dogs)

A Dog owner must:

  • Like to volunteer and visiting various settings
  • Pass a background check for both Cornell CCE & Alliance of Therapy Dogs 
  • Register yearly with Alliance of Therapy Dogs visit
