Free Child Abuse and Neglect/Maltreatment Identification Training

The New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Bureau of Training now offers FREE online Mandated Reporter Training in child abuse and neglect/maltreatment identification. This 2-hour web-based training is fully narrated and interactive and features learning exercises customized for the Child Care profession. As you complete each 10-15 minute section, the application saves your progress and allows you up to 30 days to complete the entire course.

This course meets the NYSOCFS's mandatory requirements for Training in Child Abuse Identification and Reporting. A certificate of completion is sent online to person's completing the course. It is a credit for 2 hours of training on this topic.

Free Shaken Baby / Child Abuse and Neglect / Maltreatment Identification Training

The New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Bureau of Training now offers a Shaken Baby online training. This one-hour training can count toward the 30 hrs of required training for any provider or day care employee who chooses to take it. A certificate will print out for those who finish the course. It is a one hour training. The online training covers both Shaken baby syndrome (#9) and the child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention(#6).

Reducing the Risk of SIDS in Child Care

The American Academy of Pediatrics Health Child Care America is pleased to announce the release of a new online module on Reducing the Risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in Child Care. Based on the AAP Reducing the Risk of SIDS in Child Care Speakers' Kit, this free course is designed to educate everyone who cares for babies, including child care providers. In one hour, participants will learn how to create a safe sleep environment to reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep related deaths. With an easy to use format, this course is available 24/7 from your home or office computer. Child care providers will receive a certificate of completion for 1.0 contact hour.
