          <p>Jun 13, 2026,  9:30am - 11:30am</p><p>Come to an Amazing hands-on Fire Safety demonstration from the City of Rome Fire Department where you&#39;ll learn all of the basics of Fire Safety AND how to use your Fire Extinguishers.  Participants at this training will be able to learn about all equipment used in fire safety and be able to put practice to use while extinguishing real fires!  We welcome ALL child care providers, legally exempt providers, teachers and staff to attend.Participants will have breakfast available, leave with supplies and an OCFS training certificate.</p>

        <title>4-H Equine Groundskills/Riding Evaluations</title>

          <p>Jun 20, 2026,  8:00am - 12:00pm</p><p>*For Enrolled Oneida County 4-H Members ONLY*NYS 4-H Policy is that all youth riding or driving in county sponsored events and activities must be evaluated on their riding ability.  Any 4-H member who is planning on participating in the County 4-H Horse Show at the Boonville/Oneida County Fair and falls into either of the following categories needs to be evaluated:* Any new 4-H member or Cloverbud* 4-H member moving up a riding level (Walk/Trot to Walk/Trot/Canter, Not an Age Level Ex. Junior to Senior Division)* Any 4-H member using a different horse/pony than previously evaluated on* The riding levels are leadline, Walk/Trot or Walk/Jog, Walk/Trot/Canter or Walk/Jog/Lope* Other evaluation levels include Driving and Ground Skills.If evaluations are unable to be completed at the 4-H Schooling Show alternate arrangements will be made.  If evaluations are done at the horse&#39;s home barn/location the evaluation will finalized at the County Fair 4-H Horse Shows.  This pending status is due to need to show that horse and rider are a safe pair in a show setting away from familiar surroundings.   Evaluations will be performed by 3 individuals not including the child&#39;s parent/guardian or riding instructor.&amp;nbsp;</p>

        <title>Pullorum Testing</title>

          <p>Jun 29, 2026, 10:00am - 12:00pm</p><p>ONLY OFFERED 1 DAY and MANDATORY to have testing done to exhibit at the county or state fair.All poultry that will be shown at county and state fairs need to be Pullorum tested. This is a free test which is conducted by the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets. Birds must be at least 4 months (16 WKS) old. Chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, pheasants &amp; quail are eligible. Pigeons and waterfowl are exempt from testing. There will NOT be testing prior to the poultry show at the county fair.Please be sure to bring the results of your Pullorum test with you on the day of the show! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the 4-H office.</p>
