Community Energy Educator

The Community Energy Educator will primarily assist with the teaching of energy efficiency and clean energy education programs in the Mohawk Valley Region, specifically in Oneida, Herkimer, Schoharie, Otsego, Fulton, and Montgomery Counties. This position is also responsible for working as a team member and provides input to his/her/their supervisor on implementation and evaluation of these energy programs. This position, alongside other Energy Team members, will work to inform residents, multifamily building owners, and small businesses, with an emphasis in low-to-moderate income and priority communities, of the options for adopting clean energy strategies in their homes and businesses.

Work includes assisting in establishing and maintaining relationships and working with community partners and local stakeholders to lend energy efficiency and clean energy programs to more-holistically address energy inequities. This program will deliver information and provide education in a wide variety of settings, including, but not limited to: providing educational tables/booths at community events; presenting before large audiences; making one-on-one phone calls; following up with leads/clients to provide additional information; assist leads/clients with navigating every step of applying for relevant energy efficiency and clean energy programs available to them; helping troubleshoot obstacles to adopting clean energy strategies; coordinating with local energy contractors in providing accurate information on the programs, etc. This position will work with community groups, energy contractors, supervisor and other team members to coordinate and implement engaging educational programs, including assisting with training, engaging or coordinating the work of volunteers and interns in program delivery. This position will also serve as a subject matter resource and carry out administrative tasks that support the educational program and fulfill funding requirements. Program oversight and direction will be provided by the Energy & Environment Team Leader, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County, with additional support and leadership from senior members of the regional Energy team.

• This is a full-time (37.5 hrs./week), benefits eligible, non-exempt position.
• Compensation is $22.00/hr.
• Required: Bachelor’s degree or Associate Degree plus 2 years transferrable program/functional experience & experience relevant to the role of the position.
• Paid time off includes 12 Vacation days, 15 Sick days, 4 Personal days, 12 Holidays, and 2 Floating Holidays annually.

Join our 4-H Team

Ag in the Classroom Educator

The Ag in the Classroom Educator serves as a member of the 4-H team to assist with implementation and evaluation of educational programs and activities. The Educator will be responsible for promoting program objectives and plans in 4-H Program with emphasis on Agriculture in the Classroom.

The Ag in the Classroom Educator will coordinate and deliver established Agriculture in the Classroom curriculum with the aim of fostering awareness, understanding, and appreciation of how we produce food and fiber, what we eat, and how we live by helping teachers, students, and their communities learn about and engage with agriculture and food systems. The individual will deliver established curriculum to help youth understand the connections between agriculture, the environment, and people. The Educator will assist with the planning and evaluation of the delivery of the established educational program goals. I Interact with the public through classroom presentations. The individual will assist their Supervisor with activities to foster the program with community leaders. The Educator will assist 4-H staff with summer programing as necessary. This person will appreciate and promote diversity in all interactions with program participants, staff, volunteers, and the public.

Ag Educator

The Agriculture (Ag) Educator is primarily responsible for delivering established educational programming in assigned subject matter areas of general agriculture, pest management, soil and plant sciences, emerging technology in agriculture, or other appropriate fields of study in agriculture. The educator also provides planning input for a variety of subjects, such as animal & plant sciences, food systems, and agricultural technology programs. The Ag Educator serves as a team member and will assist the supervisor in activities to organize, deliver and evaluate agricultural programs within the community.

• This is a full-time (37.5 hrs./week), benefits eligible, non-exempt position.
• Compensation is $20.50/hr.
• Required: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, environmental science or related discipline (Associate degree and two years of transferable program/functional experience may substitute) & experience relevant to the role of the position.

Agriculture Resource Educator

The Agriculture Resource Educator is primarily responsible for the assessment, development, delivery, and evaluation of educational workshops and trainings while also providing continual technical assistance to producers, agricultural landowners, and supportive organizations working to enhance the viability of local agriculture. Program topics include, but are not limited to: soil health, pest management, crop yields, agronomy, and pesticide applications. This position will deliver and develop crop and soil programming and program activities, both on-site and off-site, in the community.

The Educator works as part of a team to meet the needs of the Oneida County agricultural community through collaboration with the Association, regional, and statewide professional staff, and volunteers. As a member of the agriculture team, the educator will assist with direction, management, and coordination of diverse agriculture programming and enhanced economic development opportunities.

• This is a full-time, benefits eligible, exempt position.
• Annual salary of $58,458.40.
• Required: Master’s degree in agriculture, environmental science, or related field plus experience relevant to the role of the position.

Join our Nutrition Team

SNAP-Ed Nutritionist

This position will serve as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) Nutritionist for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County and will implement SNAP-Ed programming from a menu of existing SNAP-Ed educational programs and program activities. This position will implement already-existing educational programming to the public to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among low-income families and individuals encompassing all age groups. This position will be responsible for the delivery of established SNAP-Ed programming to community groups, and will deliver other established SNAP-Ed programming and activities, both on-site and off-site, in the community, in accordance with the Nutrition Program Area’s plan of work. This position will also coordinate all administrative aspects of the SNAP-Ed Program and will assist program staff with marketing efforts for SNAP-Ed programming, to include the environmental change initiative in collaboration with other Nutritionists of the SNAP-Ed program in the Central Region. This position is located at CCE Oneida County office and will provide programming as assigned throughout the SNAP-Ed Central Region that includes the counties of Oneida, Herkimer, Hamilton and Oswego.
