This series of five classes is the fifth module of eight. Module 5 covers CDA topic area 5: Strategies to manage an effective program operation. The five classes’ focus on helping providers develop the skills and techniques that they can use to document growth, plan appropriate activities, and run an effective and responsive classroom. We will use self-reflection to explore and examine what it means to be a professional and ways to develop and maintain professional relationships. We will review the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and the New York State Core Body of Knowledge. We will discuss and demonstrate the value of observation and we will explore different methods of record-keeping. We will explore child care regulations and Mandated Reporter requirements and identify the teachers role in ensuring that classrooms meet regulation and best practice. This module can support students who have previously taken CDA training but lack the hours in CDA content area 5. Completing all eight modules will result in completing 120 classroom hours in the eight CDA topic areas. Training outcomes will be measured through the use of multiple tools including but not limited to pre/posttests, self-reporting on training evaluations, informal observation of classroom and group discussions and various homework activities.
