Strengthening Oneida County's farm-based economy

The AED Program was created in 1998 in accordance with the Oneida County Farmland protection Plan (OCFPP) and officially registered with the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets in 2000. The mission of AED is to help foster an economic climate that supports and promotes the expansion of agricultural business within Oneida County.

Areas of Focus

  • Educating consumers about the importance of agriculture in today's society.

  • Working with the Mohawk Valley EDGE, Cities of Utica and Rome to conduct outreach visits to regional agribusinesses to help ensure agricultural industry viability and create employment opportunities.
  • Working with the Oneida County Farmland Protection Board to reach out to town and county governments to become more aware and sensitive to agriculture industry issues.
  • Educating today’s younger children of the many rewarding employment opportunities that the world of Agriculture offers.
