This position will serve as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) Nutritionist for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County and will implement SNAP-Ed programming from a menu of existing SNAP-Ed educational programs and program activities. This position will implement already-existing educational programming to the public to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among low-income families and individuals encompassing all age groups. This position will be responsible for the delivery of established SNAP-Ed programming to community groups, and will deliver other established SNAP-Ed programming and activities, both on-site and off-site, in the community, in accordance with the Nutrition Program Area’s plan of work. This position will also coordinate all administrative aspects of the SNAP-Ed Program and will assist program staff with marketing efforts for SNAP-Ed programming, to include the environmental change initiative in collaboration with other Nutritionists of the SNAP-Ed program in the Central Region. This position is located at CCE Oneida County office and will provide programming as assigned throughout the SNAP-Ed Central Region that includes the counties of Oneida, Herkimer, Hamilton and Oswego.

EWPHCCS Registered Dietitian Advisor
Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings (EWPHCCS) is a multi-faceted obesity prevention strategy that educates parents, their preschool children and childcare program staff on the importance of good nutrition and physical activity. The EWPHCCS Registered Dietitian (RD) Advisor will use existing evidence-based curriculum to provide nutrition education in child day care programs in an effort to support families in making the healthier choice to eat better and play more. The EWPH Central Region covers Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Oswego, Onondaga, Cayuga, Cortland, St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, Chenango, Broome and Tompkins Counties. The majority of programming efforts will be delivered in the southern part of the coverage area. Approximately 70% of the work will be conducted in the field providing programming with the remainder of the time spent working out of the CCE Oneida office or remotely (30%). The individual will assist the supervisor with administrative direction and management.

The Community Navigator serves as a member of the Family Development Program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County (CCEOC). The individual will deliver public education on the services offered by CCEOC’s Family Development Program as well as the county’s childcare assistance program. Education will take place throughout the community at off-site locations. The Community Navigator will work with community agencies to coordinate days and times to be on-site to meet with agency consumers. The Community Navigator will provide information to participants regarding other Extension programs, community agencies, and services as needed. This individual will appreciate and embrace diversity in all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers, and the public.

The Family Development Educator serves as a member of the Family Development Team to deliver programming and assist with the evaluation, planning and management of Family Development programs to child care providers and parents in Herkimer, Madison, and Oneida Counties. The educator will deliver established educational programs to childcare providers and parents on topics including, but not limited to: Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) guidelines, engaged learning environments, program organization and routine, parent and provider communication, developmentally appropriate practice, program development, business practices, professionalism and responsibility. This position will provide data entry of participant data requiring confidentiality. The Educator will provide information to participants regarding other Extension programs, community agencies, and services as needed.

The Food Systems Specialist will concentrate efforts on broadening the scope of the local and state food system network by connecting upstate New York produce from farmers, aggregators, processors, distributors, and food hubs with downstate New York markets – consumers, distributors, and food banks in the NYC Metro Area. The Food Systems Specialist will participate in, coordinate, and assist with initiatives to strengthen the local food system economic infrastructure, enabling an efficient, sustainable food corridor within New York State. This initiative aims to educate, provide resources, and coordinate efforts of those integrated in the food supply chain, providing opportunity, sustainability, and enhancements in economic and infrastructure security to the agricultural community and larger New York food system. The Food System Specialist will integrate themselves into various tiers of the food system supply chain as a community resource for local food promotion while ensuring funding objectives are met by working with food system stakeholders to promote and enhance the economic prosperity of New York agriculture.
