Therapy Dogs

Cornell Companions of Oneida County is currently on hiatus due to circumstances beyond our control.  Feel Free to contact the Therapy dogs website for more information.

CCE follows the Alliance of Therapy Dogs' mission  to provide testing, certification, registration, support, and insurance for members who volunteer with their dogs in animal-assisted activities. Our objective is to form a network of caring individuals and their special dogs are willing to share smiles and joy with people, young and old alike.

A Therapy Dog: 

  • Is at least one year old & healthy
  • Enjoys interacting  with a variety of people 
  • Is well mannered and knows basic obedience commands 

No previous training is required for the dog or owner. (Unfortunately, not all dogs will qualify)

(Therapy Dogs are not Service Dogs)

A Dog owner must:

  • Like to volunteer and visiting various settings
  • Pass a background check for both Cornell CCE & Alliance of Therapy Dogs 
  • Register yearly with Alliance of Therapy Dogs visit Therapydogs.com
