4-H Teen Council

4-H Teen Council is a group of 4-H'ers who meet monthly to plan and implement the teen exchange, fundraising, and other fun, educational community service projects under adult advisors' guidance.

Through shared interests in 4-H, Teen Council members can better understand life in another part of the country as part of the Teen Exchange. Through their involvement in various activities, the youth develop leadership and communication skills, build new friendships, and appreciate the spirit of teamwork

4-H Program Areas

TEEN EXCHANGE:

The 4-H Teen Exchange program provides a two-year exchange with another state. Our teens travel first to the host county. Oneida County 4-Her’s will host teens during the following year. 4-H families provide housing during our hosting year and the 4-H Teen Council pays for everything (entry fees, bus trips, etc.) that the guests do during the visit. The guest will be responsible for his or her own spending money for souvenirs.

FUNDRAISING:

In order to participate in the 4-H Teen Exchange, youth are required to participate in fundraising. Fundraising opportunities have included a November pie sale, hosting at the New York State Farm Show, bake sales and more.

TEEN COUNCIL MEETINGS:

Members are expected to attend all meetings and fundraisers. Teen Council meetings are held at 7:00 PM on the second Thursday of the month at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida County Office.
