On Oct. 1, 2018 the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Division of Human Rights published final guidance related to the State’s new requirements regarding sexual harassment policy and training in the workplace. Oct. 9, 2018 was the deadline by which every employer in New York State – even those with as few as one employee, not-for-profit organizations, small businesses, and family-owned and operated businesses – must adopt a policy on sexual harassment in their workplace that is compliant with New York law.
The policy will apply to all employees, applicants for employment, interns (whether paid or unpaid), contractors, and persons conducting business with the employer.
The documents can be found on their website
