Child Care Assistance

Child care is often one of the highest expenses for families, especially for single-parent households in New York State. The Child Care Council is here to help connect you with resources to ease this financial burden.


Financial Assistance Options:

  • Department of Social Services (DSS) Assistance:
    DSS offers daycare assistance for eligible families, including:
    • Temporary Assistance Recipients: Working and/or enrolled in an approved training or educational program.
    • Working Families: Non-recipients of temporary assistance who qualify based on income and other criteria.
  • Choosing a Provider:
    Eligible families can select from:
    • Licensed day care centers
    • Licensed/registered family or group child care providers
    • An informal provider (friend, relative, neighbor) who can apply to be enrolled
