Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

The CACFP is a federally funded nutrition program offered locally by Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Child Care Council. It serves family and group child care providers, including legally exempt programs, in Herkimer, Madison, and Oneida counties. CACFP offers nutrition education and reimbursements to help cover the cost of serving balanced meals and snacks to children in care.

Eligibility
Child care programs serving children ages 6 weeks to 12 years may qualify for monthly meal and snack reimbursements if they meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a NYS-regulated family/group family home or a legally exempt program funded by county subsidies.
  • Participate in an initial on-site visit for meal planning and record-keeping assistance.
  • Allow 3-4 unannounced monitoring visits annually to review food preparation, service, and records.
  • Submit monthly attendance and menu logs.
  • Attend annual training.
