The Child Care Council regularly hosts professional development workshops throughout our tri-county service area to assist early childhood educators in meeting their New York State training requirements.

Please Note: non-credit bearing distance learning courses are reviewed using OCFS criteria to ensure they meet the New York State training requirements. Approved courses may qualify for Educational Incentive Program (EIP) funding. If you are seeking training credit towards OCFS required training hours or EIP funding for a distance learning course, it is your responsibility to ensure that it is an approved course. You may do so, by looking at the list of approved online workshops/training.

Need Help Paying For Training or Workshops? Educational Incentive Program (EIP) is a scholarship program which helps providers pay for high quality training and education they need to provide quality care to children. Apply for EIP funding here.

Other Training Opportunities

You have many options for finding training outside of the Child Care Council. You can find educational activities and meet your training requirements through:

  • Colleges and universities. The Early Childhood.org website contains information where providers can learn about degree programs related to early care and education available at colleges and universities in New York State.
  • Distance learning and online programs are an alternative way to obtain training. Non-credit bearing distance learning courses need to be reviewed and approved by OCFS before they can be taken to satisfy OCFS requirements.
  • The Professional Development Program (PDP) is the entry point for many OCFS-funded training opportunities. It's home to the:
  • Small business development centers (SBDCs) provide a vast array of technical assistance to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs.
  • Statewide and national associations:

    • Signing up for our newsletter allows you to get the MOST up to date information on trainings held by the Child Care Council.

    CDA & SACC Classes

    Child Development Associate (CDA) and School-Age Child Care Credential (SACC) trainings allow for child care providers to receive the education needed to complete their credential. These classes are designed for all modalities, for beginner or moderate experienced providers.
